The feast of Pentecost is one of the great days in the year for Christians. It recalls the day when the promised Holy Spirit came upon the first believers – they experienced it as like a rushing wind and tongues of fire. It begins the mission of the Church, as the disciples went into the streets of Jerusalem to preach to the great crowds who had gathered in Jerusalem for the Jewish feast of the Passover.
