Friends of Heavitree Church
The Friends of Heavitree Church help to raise funds to look after both the churchyard and the church building so we can make sure they’re available to serve both the current and future residents of the Parish.
The Friends take a particular interest in the maintenance of the Lower Churchyard, for which we receive no outside financial support and we have to raise all the funds by holding events, and from donations. Over the years, the Friends paid for a new Remembrance Garden and also hold regular working parties (every two months) to keep the area tidy, whilst also encouraging the local wildlife.
The Friends have also published a Guide to Heavitree Church, written by Den Perrin, our Patron, and illustrated with colour photos by David Oates. At a cost of £2 (or £2.75 by post) the Guide is good value and profits go to the Friends funds. If you would like a copy, please contact the Hon Secretary (details below).
Membership of the Friends is open to anyone who cares for the Parish Church of St Michael & All Angels. We hold a number of fund raising social events throughout the year. These include Quiz Evenings, Coffee Mornings and talks when Members are invited to come along and bring their friends and families.
The Friends are kept in touch through Newsletters and are also invited to our Annual Meeting every June.
